NVIDIA GTC 26 Loot Report

|3 min

I had the chance to attend GTC this year, and honestly, the scale is difficult to grasp until you’re standing in the middle of it. For a full week, the city didn't just host the conference; it lived at its pace. Everywhere you looked, from hotel lobbies to coffee shops, you saw the same uniform: everybody is wearing the green lanyard! It’s intense. It’s a bit overwhelming. But it’s also a fascinating. Beyond the keynotes, there was a parallel economy happening on the expo floor: the merch. After a few rounds of navigating the booths to genuine engage into technical discussions, I started looking at the "loots." And let me tell you, some of it was truly great.

The Ultimate Merch Booth

Most booths follow a predictable script: big screens, a couple of sales folks, and a bowl of stickers (which I still appreciate, that’s how I got that rare Cursor pack for you guys!). You walk by, you stop for a second, and you forget. But the booths that actually stopped the crowd were doing something awesome. My favorite? IREN. I waited 45 minutes in line for this one, but it was worth every second. I finally have my first truly personal, custom piece of merch. When a brand makes you wait nearly an hour and you still leave happy, they’ve done something right.

The Cool Stuff

Let’s be honest: most conference merch ends up in the "drawer of shame." (but not anymore with Looties, right?!) But GTC had a few gems designed by people who are clearly fans, or who just love nerdy headlines. This year, the inspiration for headwear was off the charts. For once, you could get a cap that you can wear in daily life without a giant logo screaming "NERD!" at everyone you pass. Okay, maybe it still does? Who really knows anymore… Some of the best slogans I spotted:

  • “Not pretentious. Just fine-tuned” (from Together.ai)
  • "Hold On, Let Me Infer This" (from Vast)
  • "Unstructured" (from Teradata)
  • "Model in Training" (from Digital Ocean)

The best part? They’re already available on the site. Don’t thank me, thank you for keeping the hunt alive!

My Guilty Pleasure? Plushies.

I’ll admit it: I have a massive soft spot for plushies. Part of it is because I love bringing them home for my daughter. Did you know the DigitalOcean shark now has a permanent seat at her doll’s tea table? The truth is, I can't keep them all. Otherwise, my house would be a literal sea of stuffing and felt (any parent reading this knows the struggle). But the good news is that these make the perfect "thinking of you" gift for a nerdy friend or a departing colleague. Between the giraffes, octopuses, and birds, it’s like choosing your first Pokémon. PS: For bath time, look out for the pixel rubber duck (from VDURA). I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know about VDURA before the floor, but that duck has a Minecraft vibe that is a guaranteed hit for any kid’s evening routine.

What Stays and What Goes

We’ve officially added 40 new items to the Looties collection, but a few stand out as my personal "must-haves" for you:

  • 1. The Red Hat AI T-shirt: Now that they’ve taken over vLLM maintenance, this is a badge of honor. If you’re doing anything with training, fine-tuning, or compression, you need this.
  • 2. The "Vibe Code Cleanup Specialist" Sticker: Honestly, I almost kept this one for myself. Some developers have actually made this their LinkedIn job title. Grab it while you can.
  • 3. The Docker Socks: Because… it’s Docker. Do I really need to explain why these are cool? Plus, they’re surprisingly stylish.

Finally, I have to apologize, but a few items are staying in my private collection. The Lego sets from Nutanix and Mistral AI are officially off-limits. They’re joining my Google Cloud logo and the AMD GPU on the shelf. Some things are just too good to pass on. If you liked this article, don’t forget to join us on Instagram!
